Minutes of Officers Conference Call of May 1, 2004

Conference Call commenced at 9:30 am, duration 30 minutes.

Participants: Sharon Ruggi (President), Howard Coffield (Vice President), Pat Pinnell

(Treasurer), Cathy Skwara (Secretary – newly appointed)

President Sharon Ruggi discussed her election to and responsibilities as President of the National RC&D Association and that she will not be able to devote sufficient time to the Mid-Atlantic Association to continue as President. Therefore, Sharon resigned as President of the Mid- Atlantic Association, appointing Howard Coffield as President until the elections at our annual meeting. Before resigning, Sharon did appoint Cathy Skwara from Pennsylvania to the vacant Secretary position with the Mid-Atlantic RC&D Association.

Howard Coffield appointed Olga Walters (MD) as the second delegate to the National RC&DC Board of Directors for the Mid-Atlantic Region. (Howard served as the second delegate with Sharon as the first, until Sharon’s resignation. Howard assumed Sharon’s delegate position, leaving the second delegate vacant until Olga’s appointment.)

Sharon said she will be at our regional meeting and stressed the importance of the Listening Sessions. She has worked to provide an additional comment period to be open following the regional meetings. Donna Hunter will be presenting a program on roles and responsibilities of board and council members at our regional meeting.

Discussion was held on the Entrepreneurial Development Forum, attendance, and support given by the Kellogg Foundation.

Deadlines of August 15 to have dues paid to Pat Pinnell and voting delegate information sent to Cathy Skwara were established. Pat will send out the notices to the councils. A tentative deadline of July 15 to have nominations submitted to the nominations committee, with an August 1 deadline to provide the slate of officer candidates to councils was discussed.  The nominations committee is working on this and will send out the notice. The Bylaws Revision Committee will also be sending out their notice.

Discussion was held on the annual conference preparations, noting that an evening reception on August 31st is planned.
