I. Water and Land Resources – To develop and maintain resource technology
systems responsive to the needs of the peoples in the South Jersey RC&D
Area to address the problems associated with the siltation of lakes, streams,
and rivers, wind and water erosion, urbanization, and agriculture.
Sub-goal -- Increase access to our weather station
network for non-point source pollution control.
Objectives:
Increase the number of user referrals we receive from
our sponsors.

Meet with sponsors at least once every six months

Ensure materials on our programs are current at each sponsor
at least every six months
Explore additional sources of users

Contact county Health and Planning Departments

Contact local private engineering companies.
Provide training for sponsors in accessing weather data
and potential use for NPS control and watershed modeling and monitoring.
Sub-goal – Increase access to our weather station network
for water conservation in both the urban and agricultural communities.
Objectives
Increase the number of user referrals we receive from
our SCD sponsors.

Explore additional sources of referrals

Contact Farm Bureau, Rutgers Extension, Irrigation Companies,
Fertilizer Companies, etc.

Sub-goal – Establish new weather stations in additional
areas

Develop new sponsors for new weather stations

Contact other water providers to replicate United Water effort
II. Watershed Protection – To support and implement resource conservation
programs that enable the residents of the watershed to conserve and manage
their tidegate/levy systems and other large-scale watershed projects.
Sub-goal – Deliver services that communities can use
in managing their watersheds

Improve access to various federal watershed programs

Army Corps of Engineer programs

USDA NRCS programs
Increase public awareness of new and existing tools
to control point and non-point source pollution within the watershed

Model a program after the Barnegat Bay Estuary and others
III. Wildlife Resources – To develop, maintain, support, and initiate
resource technology systems that benefit wildlife and the people in the
South Jersey RC&D Area, while protecting and enhancing open space,
wildlife habitat and reducing sedimentation.
Sub-goal – To increase the quality of existing wildlife
habitat in the South Jersey RC&D Area.
Objective
Develop background information of existing levels of certain
wildlife in South Jersey
Establish partnerships with other similar groups

NJ Division of Fish, Game and Wildlife
Establish a permanent source of funding for wildlife
IV. Communication – To serve as a leader in providing guidance and understanding
of ecosystem based technology for the people of the South Jersey RC&D
Area through sound technical communications and Council enhancement efforts.

Seek new sponsors and members
Increase co-ordination with other USDA agencies
Identify local concerns
Improve documentation of Council activities
