Job Description for Council Members

Position Purpose: Assist the South Jersey Resource Conservation and Development Council in working with local people, agencies, and organizations to identify critical problems, developing plans to alleviate the problems, and implementing such plans to help improve the quality of our eleven-county area.

Qualifications: Although no formal qualifications are required, Council Members must be concerned with the social, economic, and environmental state of the area. They must have a genuine desire to play an active role in addressing the problems of the area and take a leadership role in "Making Things Happen" for the betterment of citizens in the area.

Duties

Training: Board members are expected to attend one training session/workshop outside of regular Council meetings per year. These sessions are generally held in conjunction with state or regional RC&D association meetings.

Attendance Requirements: Attend 75% of the Council meetings and one state or regional association meeting during the course of the year. Prior excused absences are permitted.

Time Requirements:

Reimbursement: Council Members are not reimbursed for travel and attendance at Board or Council meetings. Partial reimbursement may be available for training sessions, state and regional association meetings when approved in advance by the Council.

Terms of office: As set in Bylaws.
