Bicycle Ride — 2010
On Saturday September 11th, 2010, the South Jersey Resource Conservation and Development Council (SJRC&D) hosts the Fourth Annual South Jersey Tour des Farms, a bicycle ride through the scenic farm belt of Burlington County. Since our inaugural event in 2007, more than 600 riders have taken part in this unique ride that allows participants from all over South Jersey and beyond to visit local preserved farms and farm stands and to purchase produce, plants and other offerings along the fifteen, twenty-nine, and fifty-four mile routes. We anticipate some 250 – 300 individuals will participate in this year’s ride.
The Tour is designed to both raise public awareness of South Jersey’s agricultural industry, which keeps the Garden State green, and to highlight those farms that have entered the Farmland Preservation Program. Proceeds from the tour support the SJRC&D Council, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and its Farming for the Future Mini-Grant Program.
United Water has graciously agreed to be the event sponsor. Major sponsors include Budds K-n-P Farms and Country Market and REI of Marlton.
