Bicycle Ride — 2008
The
South Jersey Resource Conservation and Development Council (SJRC&D), a
nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the special character of South
Jersey, is planning its second annual “Tour
des Farms” bicycle ride for Saturday, September 6, 2008 (see enclosed
brochure). Close to 200 riders enjoyed pedaling through the scenic farm belt of Burlington County, while purchasing produce at local farm stands this past September. After our highly successful 2007 Tour des Farms, we anticipate a bigger turn out this year.Our hope is that the Tour becomes well established as an enjoyable
family activity and one that raises public awareness of
South
Jersey
’s agricultural industry and the need to protect and
preserve this cherished resource.
This tour raises public awareness of South Jersey’s agricultural industry, which keeps the Garden state green. Tour proceeds support the SJRC&D Council’s Agricultural Sustainability Mini Grant program. To learn more

This
year, the Burlington County Board of Freeholders has again graciously agreed to host the event
with us to showcase a number of preserved farm properties throughout the
County. We anticipate hundreds of bicycle enthusiasts will pedal their way through
Burlington
County
’s Farm Belt, visiting vegetable
farms, nurseries, orchards, a community supported agriculture farm, cranberry
farm, and numerous farm markets as they go.
